Schoolwide News
“Respect For All” Week
Respect For All week begins on Monday, February 11th through Friday, February 15th. During the week of RFA, students will participate in activities that focus on preventing bias-based harassment, intimidation, and bullying.
Let’s work together to deepen our children’s understanding of this important concept. We encourage you to have meaningful discussions with your children and talk with them about the meaning and importance of respecting each other within our school community and our global community.
Supplies
- 1 bottle of hand soap
- 1 package of baby wipes
Lunch Clubs
We are going to have another round of sign-ups for lunch clubs. Students should choose their lunch clubs carefully, as the expectation is that each time they attend the lunch club, the activity that they signed up for will be required (example: if you’re signed up for weaving lunch club, you will be weaving). Students that are not attending their lunch clubs will be dropped the week of March 11th so that students that did not get their first choice can have a seat.
Cycle 2 starts on February 13th.
Survey closing date: February 10th.
Social Media
Social media and internet use are a topic we frequently address throughout the year. Social media is ever-changing, and every day there are more social media platforms that youth are exposed to. Whether it be Facebook, SnapChat or Instagram, there are many risks and dangers to their use. We strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s internet/social media use and discuss the dangers that the use might pose. Here are 3 things that are important to discuss with them:
- Stranger Danger
- (Over) sharing information- Don’t reveal too much
- Hidden info in photos- talk to your children about how a picture is “worth a thousand words” and can give away private information such as where they live.
Here are some resources on internet safety for children if you would like to check them out!
