Welcome to 501 and 502!
Thank you to all the families who were able to attend Curriculum Night on Thursday evening! Ms. Sonya and I shared the new structure of 5th grade and curriculum highlights for the upcoming year. As the transition year to Middle School, 5th grade is filled with opportunities for learning in new subject areas. In addition to core subjects, 5th Graders will now receive Media Literacy and Spanish. Our students will also meet in Electives (Art, Science, or Debate) once a week. Students will be supported socially and emotionally in their Homeroom classes. During Homeroom, we will continue BSI’s philosophy of using Responsive Classroom techniques in order to create safe and engaging classroom learning communities.
